Hearing Aid Know

“Unbiased hearing aids and hearing loss information from a hearing aid wearer. Hearing aid reviews. Advice and tips on living with hearing loss.” hearingaidknow.com is written by Steve Claridge.

"I started this website because I’ve found that a lot of other hearing aid and deafness related sites are overly technical – I want to talk about issues, give tips and hints and share thoughts in plain english without too much of the technical mumbo-jumbo. I also post the latest deaf/hard of hearing news from around the Internet."

The new 'Personal Independence Payment' (PIP)

The UK Government has released a draft of the Assessment Regulations that will outline the way people will be assessed for the new 'Personal Independence Payment' (PIP) that will replace Disabled Living Allowance (DLA) in 2014.

The proposals are centred on creating a clearer, more targeted benefit, with an objective assessment, designed to enable disabled people to participate more fully in society. Reform of this benefit is intended to follow a social rather than medical model based on a person’s needs and the barriers they face rather than their individual disability.

As part of the consultation process the Government want to hear disabled people’s views on the Assessment Regulations and accompanying guidance.
