Wear your hearing aid/s.
Make sure you've got spare batteries.
Sit near the front if it's a large seminar or meeting.
Keep your back to the light so you can see the speaker.
Tell someone, arrange some extra support if you need it.
Wear a deaf badge if you're in a big group, save keep explaining.
Ask people to repeat things if you haven't heard.
Get copies of any handouts.
Ask a hearing friend or colleague to go with you
Set a good example by speaking clearly yourself, especially if you're with other deaf/hearing impaired people.
Don't cancel communication support at the last minute! You'll still have to pay the costs or at least a cancellation fee, which you can't claim back from Access to Work.
